First round pop; o2 laden fresh air = higher density.

It's a guess, but this is also the cause for 1st round pop. How much lower velocity are we talking? Also, does it repeat the behavior if you open the chamber and let it air out (*introducing a fresh supply of o2)?

Also, could be the first round out of a magazine being chambered by hand vs. by action, if an automatic - you didnt say.
