I just grabbed a few inches of 0-gauge solid copper wire and a 3-pound sledge and wrought it into flattened hook for opening doors in the rest of the country where doormen have never been essential personnel. I chose copper because it is self-sanitizing against coronavirus within four hours. I made a scabbard out of heater hose and ABS plastic sheet to cover the working end and hold the hook from my belt, so it is easily and safely deployed and stored. I tied some eight-pound monofilament fishing line to it as a lanyard that is weak enough to break away if caught on something. That keeps me from having to touch the floor if the hook falls out of the scabbard.
