She is in her third semester of PA school. Starting to learn skills to start her 6 semesters of clinical rotations. Huge issues.
1. Testing. How does the college monitor and conduct testing? Even now, when in class, they go to special rooms devoid of all electronics to test.
2. Clinical skills. They can't perform patient assessments, learn hands on skills such as suturing, heart sounds, lung sounds, etc. Can't participate in the "free-clinic" where they learn how to interact and assess patients.
3. Clinical rotations. All the hospitals and medical offices have kicked out all the students. Medical students, PA students, nursing students, PT, OT, radiology tech, etc.
We have a shortage already, and this is going to create a substantial gap in the folks entering the health care field.
