"Because the red dot is projected to the lens from the floor of the tube, the angle of the lens compensates for the projection angle of the beam, basically, centering it on the reflector portion of the lens

It's tilted at an angle to let the light from the LED bounce back out the eyepiece.

If the glass weren't tilted then the emitter would have to be in the middle of the eyepiece."
