It's been springing pinhole leaks for about eight years now and I've been patching them with epoxy. It's gotten so bad the tank won't hold an air gap for more than a few days. Finally broke down and ordered a new tank with a diaphragm. Not sure how I feel about that. The next door neighbor is on their 3rd diaphragm pressure tank in 10 years. I think I would rather deal with servicing an air gap model every 3 months instead of dealing with the busted diaphragm nonsense every few years. Our tank was an old galvanized air gap style, installed in the 80s. Probably should have been replaced 10 years ago, but fxck me... 40 years vs. 3.3 years? Who makes this stupid new shxt? If I had an old style tank in stainless it would last fxcking forever.
Is it the sucky lime filled water around here making the pressure tanks go tits up, or are they just garbage?
The one I bought was $144 shipped to the house so the cost isn't horrible, but changing it out is going to be a pain in the ass. Sure as fxck don't want to do it every 3-4 years.
