If you're talking a self-winding waterproof automatic watch under $500, then probably Seiko.
I like tritium illumination so I have a Marathon Jumbo Day Date, having retired a Marathon GSAR (serial number 0009). They run great, but aren't all that accurate. I think the current watch loses 6-7 seconds a day.
If you are just talking about having a regular watch with hands, and still want tritium, then Luminox is hard to beat. They're a quartz movement, so 1-2 second drift per month. Will be in your price range.
Other quality analog watches with quartz movements are Citizen, Seiko, Marathon. All will last and last.
